School Me on the Different Versions of MixBus
Posted by: ScumBum - 01-27-2024, 05:55 PM - Forum: Mixbus General Discussion - Replies (1)

I bought Mixbus 2.5.1  , used it a few times and stuck with Pro Tools . Now I want to use it again . I have 2.5.1 , does the License I bought allow me to upgrade to newer versions ?

Is there a list of whats been changed from 2.5.1 up to the newer versions ?

What does 32c have that regular Mixbus doesn't have ?

Thanks

How to change tempo of 1st 4 bars
Posted by: maestro777 - 01-25-2024, 10:07 AM - Forum: Mixbus General Discussion - Replies (8)

I have a song set to 80 bpm perfectly time aligned. What I'd like to do is to change/slow down the tempo of the 1st 4 bars.
It could be slowly ramped up to the 5th bar or a constant slow tempo and then hit 80 bpm right at the 5th bar.

I've set a BBT marker at the 1st beat of the 5th bar,  set a BBT marker at the 1st beat of the 1st measure, moved the playhead to the area between the 1st and 5th bar and set it's tempo to 60 bpm.

Problem is that now every region in my song has now shifted on the grid.

What I was expecting was for the regions after on and after the BBT marker on the 5th bar to remain stable and not shift or move.

Is there another way to do this? Can I automate the tempo of the entire song to simply ramp or remain at a set tempo before my 5th bar and then change?

IDK but maybe I'm looking at this wrong with using the BBT markers b/c I don't want to align the grid to the content as I've seen in many of the tutorials.
Rather, I want to slow the tempo and the way I'm going about it the tempo is changing confirmed via the metronome; but the actual song still plays at the original constant tempo.

  Mouse vs Control Surface
Posted by: ROG - 01-18-2024, 01:32 PM - Forum: Mixbus General Discussion - Replies (9)

I'm interested to hear other views on this subject, because I've got this uneasy feeling that I might have missed something. I grew up with large-format consoles, where if I wanted to adjust something I reached out and did it - easy. Now I'm working with Mixbus 32C on a 65in 4k monitor and if I want to do the same thing I reach out with the mouse instead - even easier because I don't have to get out of my chair to lean over the console. I can see all the controls and access anything in about 2 seconds using one hand. To do the same adjustment with pretty much all the control surfaces I've tried, I have to press several buttons first, to locate the bank, the track and the parameter I want to change, before actually doing what I could have done quicker with the mouse. What am I missing here? If you have a control surface you like and hold an opposing view, I'd love to hear your perspective on this. Many thanks.

  Dolby/Atmos coming to Mixbus
Posted by: krans - 01-11-2024, 04:29 AM - Forum: Mixbus General Discussion - Replies (50)

Ok, so the NAMM e-mail revealed that v10 will get workflows for Dolby/Atmos (and I'm guessing other multichannel options).
I think this is such great news!
And Mixbus seems like a natural DAW to do this kind of work in, the console style. Can't wait to try it out.

Really looking forward to the "new premium processing tools" as well.
I wonder what they are.
Personally I'm hoping for a de-clicker for mouth sounds (either built-in or as an XT plugin), even though I'd be really surprised to get one there. I just need it all the time.

Anyone else excited about the news?
What are you hoping for in v10?

Selection of several regions - sometimes strange
Posted by: ZeHa - 01-10-2024, 03:10 PM - Forum: Mixbus General Discussion - Replies (2)

Hi there,

sometimes when trying to select several regions using SHIFT, more regions are selected than I intend to. Then I have to start with a different region in order to get the selection that I want.

Example:
I have 3 tracks and 3 WAV files. One of them I split using the scissors tool, and I would like to move the one part of the splitted WAV, along with the two other WAV files. To do that, I click on each region using the SHIFT key. However, sometimes both of the split regions will be selected, even though I only click on one of them. I then have to de-select, and start with the splitted region, then the other two, and then usually the selection is as I intend it to be.

Hopefully that's explained in a way you guys understand Big Grin

Is there a reason for that behavior? Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: Here's some screenshots to explain it better:

What I'm trying to achieve:

What I'm NOT trying to achieve:

Regions B1 and B2 were once a single WAV file, but got split and moved apart a little.
When I try to select everything except B1, and I start the selection in the order D, C, B2, A, region B1 will also be selected automatically (screenshot 2).
If I start my selection from B2, then the other ones (A, D, C, order doesn't matter), then B1 will NOT be selected automatically, and I have the intended result (screenshot 1).
