The way 'it should work' is... in the Edit List (with either Sources or Regions) pointing at a file shows the path to the file on your disk(s).....
This works in v 7 & 8 but looks like it has been broken in v9.
When it does work, it will show just the filename when the source file is in the session audio files folder.
If the source is referenced from another drive / folder then the full path will show.
One thing you can do is right click in the top bar (where DSP and Error light is) and select to show session path... this can be handy if you have complex folder structures.
I will point support to this thread.

@Klaus,
one other way to do this is to open the session name.ardour file with a simple text editor (it is an XML file).
Within the file there will be a list of  <Sources> which lists all the sources and their parameters.
The penultimate entry will be origin.... origin="" means the file is in the interchange folder of the session.
If not in the interchange folder there will be a path displayed: origin="/Volumes/drive_name/folder_name/etc....."

This is the method I have used in every version of MB/MB32C.
In fact, being a Linux user, I crafted a quickie KSH script to expose this info for every song instance that I retain on disk.
It has been especially helpful where I (or someone else) might have neglected to carry over sources from one song version
to another!

Cheers!

Thanks Dingo. I hope we we won't be obliged to buy version 10 for this to be repaired.
