Mixbus v10 - now available!
#1
We’re extremely proud to share with you the latest version of Mixbus! Mixbus 10 is a milestone achievement for us here at Harrison.

There's been a fundamental change in the way you purchase Mixbus: there's no more distinction between Mixbus and Mixbus32C.  Mixbus is now available in 3 easy-to-remember tiers:  Mixbus, Mixbus Plus, and Mixbus Pro.

Huge news:  the basic 'Mixbus' tier now includes Harrison's 32C equalizer as well as the 12 stereo sends which were previously only accessible in the Mixbus32C tier!

The Plus and Pro tiers add incredible new features:

  • Plus Tier: adds the channelstrip gate (from Mixbus32C) and all the XT plugins (a $1700 value) operate in licensed mode
  • Pro Tier: everything in the Plus tier, plus: a new SSL channelstrip EQ option and Dolby Atmos immersive mixing (!!!)

Thank you for being part of our wonderful Mixbus community!

In additon to that huge news, there's the usual slew of improvements and fixes for a major version release.  I'll post more details here momentarily, but the website is going LIVE as we speak, and you know you want to look Smile

Upgrade emails and offers will be rolling out this week and next.  But if you are subscribed to our mailing list or purchased Mixbus recently, you should already find that you can enter the store, choose a tier, and your upgrade price will be applied to your purchase.

What's New in Version 10 ?

Publish immersive mixes using Dolby Atmos (Pro Tier only)
With Mixbus v10 pro, you can export Dolby Atmos master (ADM) files, and upload them directly to your music streaming service.
This page describes how to get started with immersive mixing!

Use the SSL 9000J equalizer in any channel!  (PRO tier only)
The SSL 9000J EQ provides a different 'flavor' of EQ in your Mixbus channelstrip!  SSL's 9000-series console was introduced in 1995 and used SSL’s newly introduced “Superanalogue” circuitry to provide an extended and clean frequency response for the era of high-resolution digital recording and playback.  It's the perfect complement to Harrison's move vintage 32C EQ.  Visit the v10 manual to learn more!

[Image: v10-gate-element.png]The Mixbus channelstrip Gate/Expander, originally introduced in Mixbus32C, is now available in Mixbus Plus & Mixbus Pro tiers.

All of the Harrison XT plugins are now included with Mixbus Plus & Mixbus Pro. That’s 19 plugins, over $1000 in value right at your fingertips!

All tiers have a new 'pre' selector for the 12 mix bus send controls. This sends the pre-fader signal (including all plugins prior to the fader) to a bus.
Additional Changes and Improvements in v10 (all tiers)
  • Note tupling: inspired by a feature in the new Ableton Live 12: while editing MIDI, select one or more notes, then press "s" to split each note into two equally sized parts. Press "s" again to split into 3, then 4, 5 and so on. Reverse the process with shift-S. Use "j" to join selected adjacent notes back together. As you can see in this video this can be a very powerful technique for working with complex rhythms.

  • No-strobe option: a new user preference that can disable all "flashing" and "blinking" elements of Mixbus's GUI, intended for users with sensitivity to this sort of visual input. If enabled, clocks do not run, no buttons blink, and meters do not move.

  • Support for all Novation LaunchPad devices: Launchpad Pro, Launchpad X, and LaunchPad mini will be auto-detected upon connection to Mixbus
Many more improvements and fixes....
  • Changed the session default sample rate (for new users) to 48kHz.

  • Added a Mute button to Rec window.

  • Always allow playback even if there is no session start/end defined yet.

  • When importing tempo maps from Standard MIDI Files, insert the tempo map at the correct position (not always at zero).

  • When editing MIDI notes, show note length with verbose cursor.

  • Improve straight line drawing for note velocity.

  • Keep track of the visibility of GUIs for LV2 plugins using the externalUI extension.

  • Allow clearing LV2 plugin scan info.

  • Optimize tempo map operations for trivial (and overwhelmingly common) case of 1 tempo and 1 meter.

  • Clicking 'anywhere' in a channelstrip no longer selects the channelstrip in the mixer.  You must now click in the channel slate (name) to select a channel.

  • Adjusting a mixbus send knob level should not automatically set the IN switch for grouped channels (this fixes an annoying behavior related to quick-groups)

  • Changing compressor and gate 'mode' should not automatically set the IN switch for grouped channels.

  • The Input section was always being recalled 'visible' even if a session was saved with it being hidden.  This has been fixed.

  • Record MIDI notes that are being 'held down', as if they were a NoteOn when recording starts

  • Region groups: do not assign a region-group to regions that got recorded on the same track during Looping

  • Show a progress bar when importing many files / tracks

  • Grid: display lines for triplets/quintuplets/septuplets (note: this probably only works correctly for 4/4 metrum)

  • fix a buglet that sometimes prevented "jump to prior bar" shortcut from working

  • add CC names to General MIDI Drums

  • versioned files (.ardour-7000 etc) are now stashed in the backup folder so they are not visible in the recent-sessions list

  • Change default samplerate for brand-new installations to 48kHz (48k is required for Dolby Atmos immersive ADM export)

  • MacOS:  Added a checkbox "use MacOS window invalidation".  Disabing this checkbox MAY improve drawing speed of the editor and mixer on large monitors, for macOS.  So far, we've only found that this works on Sonoma 14.4 and newer.

  • MacOS: Fixed some cases of z-axis stacking on MacOS. This fixes an issue where the Loudness Analyzer dialog would have a vestigial mixer window attached behind it.

  • Numerous Fixes for Console 1.

  • Fix Subsequent_37 MIDNAM file.

  • Websockets: fix startup code confusion.

  • WebSockets: fix crash when switching snapshots

  • Improve efficiency and ordering of marker list display.

  • Add workaround for yabridge threading.

  • Ensure that MidiStreamView calls a color handler for each region.

  • Ignore "stop at end" when exporting.

  • Fix issues with transport masters across sessions and backend changes.

  • Fix buffer-overflow in power range spectral analysis

  • Sanitize MIDI track names, remove unprintable characters

  • Import Dialog: clean up MIDI information.

  • Fix crash when clicking on region boundary box to start Drag.

  • Fix crash when freezing a track with > 1 region

  • Fixes for the arpeggiator plugins introduced in Mixbus v9.2 by Albert Gräf.

  • Fix two issues loading tempo maps from pre-8.0 sessions.

  • Fix missing sources after cleanup/rec

  • Notes entered via step entry use musical (not audio) time.

  • Temporal: fix error in computation of timecnt_t::end() for specific conditions.

  • Retain Region layering when duplicating Regions.

  • Reduce default size of lollis and make them scale with the UI scale factor.

  • Fix various subtle errors caused by inclusive end arithmetic (i.e. 1-5 includes the 5) versus exclusive end (i.e. 1-5 is terminated by the 5 and does not include it).

  • Prevent duplicate entries in recent session list.

  • Fix MIDI input monitoring without connections.

  • Ioplug: implement reset to default values.

  • Auditioner: fix stuck notes when auditioning different files.

  • Do not automatically set `font-size` on macOS.

  • Avoid a crash in some VST3's (Reason Rack, maybe others) by explicitly unloading the dll modules when closing a session.

  • Correctly markup text in the region list.

  • Provide preference for scrolling-adjusts-note-velocity.

  • Fix computing "closest later beat".

  • Add Lua script to sequence mixer-scenes using markers.

  • Fix Lua 1Hz timer signal

  • Add Lua script to reverse MIDI notes and regions.

Upgrade prices:

From any prior Mixbus to:
Mixbus 10 :  $29  (same upgrade price you are familiar with)
Mixbus 10 Plus :  $99  (this will include ALL of the XT plugins, and adds the channelstrip Gate)
Mixbus 10 Pro :  $149  (this adds the SSL EQ, and Dolby Atmos immersive mixing)

From any prior Mixbus32C to:
Mixbus 10 Plus :  $79  (the same upgrade price you are familiar with)
Mixbus 10 Pro :  $99  (unbelievably good offer to get SSL EQ and Dolby Atmos support!)

(*) NOTE:   your prior purchases of our XT plugins licenses are preserved in the Mixbus tier.  Your XT license files will continue to be valid in v10.

The 'Plus' and 'Pro' tiers do not require additional XT licenses on your system: the existence of the Plus or Pro license will unlock the plugins.

We know that many of our existing Mixbus32C customers already have many or all of the XT plugins; and this is one of the reasons why the upgrade to Pro is deeply discounted for this initial launch of v10 with the new SSL EQ and Dolby Atmos.

Simplifying the licensing process for our bundled XT plugins should make the process simpler for new users.

Hello, how can I benefit from the reductions for v9 owners? My activation key was sent to me via email (no Harrison account). If I want to purchase the new version, what is the procedure to follow to obtain the good price?

Thanks

Hi matthieu,  we are in the process of sending upgrade emails.

But in the interim, you can go to the new website,  create a login with the email you used to purchase Mixbus or Mixbus32C, and then click "Add to Cart" on one of the tiers.  Your upgrade price should be displayed there.

Best,
-Ben
