Universal audio analog DAW coming out, but I still like Mixbus

He said it may possibly be out this Spring. He said the DAW looked a little like Logic. He does not expect it to be a ProTools killer.

Aha...here will Warren Huart, UA says its not really a DAW.

But it sure looks like a DAW.

Looks like any DAW. Pffft, look at the mixer - no integrated channel strips. And it's not "free" as the guy boasted - you have to buy their overpriced interface and to bear with an overpriced Mac.
Next, please.

'we're not calling it a 'DAW' b/c you have to have a apollo interface..its deeply integrated..' and yup paid for features = old protools

as soon as they mentioned 'analogue' my BS meter snapped.

Not quite an innovative new take. Harrison were doing digitally controlled analog back in 1985.
This has control from a plugin rather than a dedicated hardware controller though. I question whether there is great advantage to this approach compared to just routing a send out to an all-analog processor and turning its knobs. Either way requires an extra round of DA/AD.
I'm interested to see if this gains any popularity. Seems like it will be fairly expensive.
Mixbus 32C, Debian Bookworm/KDE, EVE SC205 + ADAM Sub 8 monitors, Soundcraft Compact 4, M-Audio 2496, i5 6500, 16GB RAM, WD Blue SSD 1TB, 48" LG OLED, other stuff.
Work as house engineer at a popular venue in Melbourne AU. On a quest for the holy grail, the perfect amount of cowbell.

It might seem unattractive (Mac only - and needing very expensive hardware) but there seems to be one helluva lot of interest over on the UAD forum. The thread announcing Luna is already up to 163 pages of replies !!

I am sure they are excited, isn't it free for them because they already have the hardware? I understand that it is mac only. Is it also PT only? It does not look very analogue to me.

My Lexicon MX300 came with a VST for remote control.

This looks like a winning solution to me. For people who want to spend the money on an Apollo and lots of UAD plug ins, I can't imagine wanting to use anything else.

The analog summing bit not shipping at release and being a paid add on, though....says it's a tacked on thing that should make Harrison smile inside. It's been in development for 5-7 years they said...and it's not shipping for 4 months and they don't know that the analog summing part will be available day one...?

Anyway--I know someone I'd have told to just use it who bought a $2500 Apollo and currently uses none of it--bought ZERO UAD plug ins...overdub only recording--he would sound and function the same largely with a $250 interface.
