Computer Monitor Question
#31
FedEx delivered a day early! It's really big compared to the 23" I was on. It's running 2560 x 1440 on DisplayPort. For where it has to be placed, this size is perfect. It's gorgeous! The main thing is I've got full resolution and I can easily see the channel strips. They look amazing and I'm really happy with it! I'm actually leaning back more in the chair, which is good...it feels more relaxing this way. Completely awesome monitor for the price. HP Pavilion 32q refurbished. It definitely feels easier on the eyes. I'll post some pictures in a moment.

Funny thing is, MixBus is the only thing I've maximized so far. Adobe Audition and Chrome feel very good about the same size they were before. Plus there's all this space now. It may be cool to recess it somehow. My desk surface could be smaller and less deep and I could place it low and angled up. I may give that a try on Friday.

Update: It feels snappier and more responsive, which is great. The lag that I was getting when spilling tracks and VCA's is gone. Not sure if it's related to now meeting the minimum resolution requirement, but I believe it could be since graphics can impact many performance issues. Anyway, it's certainly smoother and more fluid.

I can also easily put up all my instrument busses and have plenty of room for tracks. I almost don't need the track list now.

I have a 24" 1920x1080... which through my graphics card I can set to 1920x1200 but only just. I would change to a 28" 2560x1440 if i can get one the right price, not sure how I much I would gain but I am struggling with my eyes.
I have a ledge that limits the height of my screen to be under 580mm

I could tell my eyes were working harder, so hence the bigger screen. This happened before when I spent lots of time with the program. Plus, I'll meet the minimum requirements for 32C, which will be good too.

I use 32C and it is a struggle to use even with managing to get my 24" 1920x1080p to 1920x1200p. I'm considering a Hannspree 27" 2K WQHD IPS HDMI Monitor £200.00. But I would have to alter my box room to accommodate it

Would you think the spec is OK ?

Alan

2k on a 27 inches might be a little small pixel wise. I think 32 inches is probably the minimum size for 2k to be comfortable. But you can always use resolution of your video card to limit the resolution to 1920x1200 which would probably be more comfortable. You can can also use Mixbus scaling settings to help if needed.

Thank You BJS,
I do not have the room for a 32" monitor, but I can just fit a 27" monitor in the restricted height I have. What are your thoughts regarding the the beneficial increase in view-able space between a 24" and a 27"

Cheers
Alan
Well, since the 27" is higher resolution I think its worth it. Its not a dramatic increase from 24" to 27" but it is still a good improvement.

Oh Boy Donny that looks great, don't think you'll need your glass's with that screen.

Cheers

Here's a couple more that I didn't get to post earlier. For the plugins that I do use, it's great to get many on the screen at one time. I'm also really impressed with the build quality. Heavy and solid. Yes, its funny I had two pairs of glasses in the first picture. It's a very mild, single vision prescription that I've had for a while. I don't need them to be functional, but things are sharper from about monitor distance and beyond if I'm wearing them.
