Computer Monitor Question
#1
Hi everybody,

I currently have a 23" monitor running at 1920 x 1080. I'd really like to have the MixBus console larger and easier to read. I'm wondering if I should get a larger screen with the same resolution, like a 28" or 32", or should I increase the size and resolution 2560 x 1440. Seems like if I increase the resolution and the screen gets bigger, it may be a wash? With higher resolution, I could see more, but I'm afraid it may not actually be larger. I'm pretty sure if I keep the resolution I have and increase the screen size, it will actually be bigger. Prices are much better as 1920 x 1080 also. What would you all suggest? I'm leaning towards keeping 1080 p.

Thanks!

Donny

I personnaly got myself a 32" 2560x1440 monitor last Christmas and its just awsome. Mixbus 32c looks great on it. I would never go back to 1080 for 32c. And mixbus has controls in the preference to adjust the resolution. You can always make things larger on 2560x1440 if you need to, but you will never be able to get more if you stick to 1080.

I gues you are running Mixbus and not Mixbus 32c. Which requires less resolution, but if ever you decide to switch to 32c which requires of 1200 pixel height, you'll be glad if you have a higher resolution monitor.

Duly noted sir. Thanks so much for the input. Yes, I'm running 32C and I also use Studio One and Adobe Cloud. I guess I'd have the flexibility to scale up MB if needed.

Thanks!

Clearly go for higher resolution.
My solution is: for the price of a 2560 x 1440 monitor you can easily get a 50" 4k TV. That's what I did. Plenty of "real estate" while the elements are not too small to read. I can have 24 channels plus 12 mixbuses in the lower half and in the upper half the editor and a number of plugins -all simultaneously visible- that's heaven for me Smile

LOL! Wow man...that sounds awesome. 24 channels and 12 busses huh?...very cool sir. I'm definitely not able to do that at the moment. I will investigate that also.

Wow, that sounds awesome man! I have been kicking around doing the same thing. Presently I am running on a stacked 24" computer monitor (lower) and a 32" Vizio TV (upper), both at 1080P, under Linux. Please post a screen grab. I would love to see it!

As soon as I have my mixing desk back. Refer to my shed thread haha. Next weekend I hope to be up and running, however, life gets in the way sometimes, so it might be later.

Just be carefull going with a TV. Not all TVs can render text sharply, even 4k TVs. Just make sure it has 4:4:4 color support or your text might be blurry.

I think my graphics only supports up to 2560 x 1440 on HDMI, and a little higher on DisplayPort. How would 4K behave with that?
