Wow thanks Glen!
First I thought "hey I have a running system, why change?" but then I read the change log - now that would be really nice and neat on my Lappy...

I thought 3.5 was the latest version?

3.5 had a bug in it where the trim pot volumes on the channels could change, 3.6 was a hotfix for that, All registered users should have received an email, that's where I got it from.

In case some windows stalwarts are unawares, AVLinux contains a worldclass
16 part multi-timbral synthesizer, a great sample playing pattern-grid based drum machine,
a heavily developed, flexible, and easy-to-use amps-sim, and a vast range
of excellent fx and utilities. And these can be tested by the bootable live session
dvd, without risking your production systems. The AVLinux system can be installed
on external drives, and if you ever perform a catastrophy, can be a very handy
source of system rescue capabilities.

I was so impressed with the Mixbus handling of multiple cpu hawgs,
that I had to buy in. I even like the manual. And thanks to the support teams
middle linebacker tackling some internet folly, I can now access the forum.
Suite!
Cheers

Just curious. What is the "worldclass 16 part MT synth"?

The effects section is per-instrument, and on the master.

program additive, formant, subtractive, and padsynth sounds,
layer as desired, and export the results to a folder.
The various editors are hidden until chosen for service.

I am impressed. I already had it installed and have messed with it a few times, but never really got very far with it. The video really helped. I never knew it got into that much synthesis control. My biggest thing now is the learning curve. I have not programmed an "analog" synth in years. lol. Thanks for killing my spare time for me!

Hi Glen,

yesterday I threw it onto my laptop and at apt-get update it came up with an error. First I thought the repo was down, so I checked back today.
Same error appears when I try to install something via apt-get install or when I try to start synaptic. In other words, I can't install anything. While this is a good thing against fiddlers (haha), I would like to complete the system so it's right for me Big Grin

I'm no apt wizard and I'm a bit lazy (lol), so here's the msg:

8<-----------------------------------------------------------------
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/downloads.sourceforge.net_project_ubuntuzilla_mozilla_apt_dists_all_main_binary-amd64_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
8<-----------------------------------------------------------------

Of course, everyone who has an idea is welcome Smile

Cheers,
MMM

...oh, at least I found out that this file is generated/modified at apt-get update, so here are the parsing lines and warnings:
