Mixbus, Mixbus32C: v5.3 update available FREE
#1
A new version of Mixbus and Mixbus32C is available: v5.3

This software update is free for both "Demo" and "Licensed" users of Mixbus and Mixbus32C.

The v5.3 update provides dozens of improvements: see a full list below!

You can always get the latest version of Mixbus by visiting the appropriate product page, and clicking "Download"

Changes in v5.3.0

Additions:
Harrison XT-SP Stunning Phaser plugin (DEMO, requires a separate license for unlimited use of the control-panel)
x42 Instrument Tuner plugin (Fully Featured; Included FREE!)

Improvements:
New Licensing mechanism: Mixbus, Mixbus32C, and the XT- plugins now use a plain license key instead of the URL (no more license-file timeouts), when pasting into the license dialog. The original method of saving the file to your HOME folder continues to operate as before.
All of Harrison's bundled LV2-format plugins have been updated with new XT-style GUIs, a new license mechanism, and lots of smaller fixes.
It is now possible to purchase the individual plugins that were previously bundled together in the Essentials or Character bundles.
Security Fixes for MacOS "Catalina" which prevented Mixbus from accessing the audio input (microphone)
Selecting a Range, then switch to the Draw tool to draw automation/region-gain: this now works when you select a range across multiple audio regions.
Much better handling for multi-out instruments:
--Show (# outs) in instrument-selector menu when the instrument is multi-out. (Some plugins like Kontakt don't have the #of outputs in the plugin name, so you couldn't tell them apart in the menu)
--When a multichannel instrument is added, the "configuration" dialog will default to "multichannel" and "Fan Out", rather than requiring the user to engage those.
--"Fan Out" creates a stereo track for each pair of outputs from the plugin instrument. Using a track allows you to record/bounce the output of the instrument to audio.
--When fanning-out an instrument plugin to separate tracks, we now assume that each pair of outputs is stereo, as this matches the majority of VSTi's that we tested. If your VSTi has mono outputs (like: Addictive Drums) then you should use Window->Audio Connections to connect the output to both sides of the stereo track.
--Automatically disable the "MSTR" button on the main MIDI track; this was causing the sound from the first stereo bus to be doubled.
Locations (and Ranges) now have a timestamp, assigned when they were created, and this is sortable in export timespan selector and in the editor. This makes it easier to find the Range that you just created, regardless of its name or location on the timeline.
Improve behavior of some drop-down menus (locate the menu list so the currently selected item is under the mouse cursor)
Import dialog
--Prefer one track per file as default import option
--Mixbus should always copy imported files, even if they are drag+dropped in.
Strip Silence dialog: will now remember its settings when you close/re-open Mixbus.
Stem-export: If you have some tracks selected in the editor, they will be pre-selected for stem export.
Updated Fluidsynth (General MIDI synth) to newest version
When muting MIDI, silence all playing notes
Lua Scripting:
--Increase available Lua action script slots
--Add an example script to set automation states of multiple controls
--Add a notch-bank filter example DSP script
--Add a slow fade in/out example DSP script
Generic UI-Plugin Analysis could cause undue cpu usage; this has been improved
Use Icons for plugin preset buttons. (small plugin windows will no longer be stretched to fit all the plugin-preset button text)
LV2 extension to override strict-i/o per plugin
--In the future this will make it easier to use LV2 plugins that convert stereo to mono (auto-panners, etc) without having to manually adjust the pin-connections. x42 Whirl implements this extension.
Mixbus32C: concentric pan knobs were not triggering automation touch correctly. This has been fixed.
Remember MIDI-track note-range between restarts
Prevent adding a 2nd MIDI input/output port to a track; instrument plugins can only use one (16-channel) midi port anyway.
Control Surfaces:
--Add a device profile for X-touch + two X-touch compact devices.
--Add a device profile for X-Touch + X-Touch Compact
--Faderport: User button state save and restore
Add midinam patchfile for Yamaha NP-V80 -- thanks to Rob v.d. Berg
Add midinam patchfile for Moog Slim Phatty
Do not set MIDI CC values on locate if control/parameter is set to Off
Clarify MIDI CC menu ambiguity - the menu lists the available controllers, not the CC#
Add option to show/hide region names
Add preference to hide LADSPA plugin if the replacement LV2 exists
Allow analysis window to plot live pre/post signal analysis
Don't allow to cut/copy inserts via Drag/Drop
Headless operation (power-user feature)
--Added --template command-line option
--Added session-util to create a new session from the command line

Fixes:
Dragging a stereo EQ or Comp plugin from a mono to stereo channel will no longer mute the right side (forum post)
Do not force a shared playlist when Duplicating a track (forum post)
Update Plugin-Tag policy (don't overwrite plugin tags) - (forum post)
Keyboard-entry on some VST plugins did not work; this has been improved
Fix shortcuts to some actions that moved from Common to Editor category
When the channel MUTE was automated, it might be impossible to use the shortcut to toggle mute; this has been resolved by implementing a touch when the mute action is activated
When a selected automation-lane is removed, this could cause a crash. This has been fixed.
Fixed some MIDI-note selection shortcuts:
--middle-click on a note should select all instances of that note (so you can transpose them all up/down)
--MIDI-note selection invert
Fixed a crash when deleting selected region-view in ripple mode
Use pretty-port-names in latency measurement dialog

Changes in v5.3.4 (note: this was emailed as a "hotfix" update to anyone who downloaded v5.3.0)

The 3-band "tone" controls in the mixbuses and master bus had an error: if the "Low" knob was set at 0dB, then the mid and high bands would not have any effect on the audio. This has been fixed. Note: this problem only affects Mixbus32C, not "regular" Mixbus.
View->Video Monitor selections (in the main menu) had no effect, and the video-monitor window position was not being saved. These problems have been fixed.
The "rude solo" button in the monitor-section was not blinking when a mixbus was solo-ed. This has been fixed.

This is quite an update! Thanks to all in the team!

Tried old sessions, new ones and all you fixed in V5.3 work fine.
My favourites:
- multiout MIDI easy fan and record
fanning keeps the parts as I set in the plugin mixer gui (eg, I set in the plugin kick 1, sn 2, hat 3, the fan keeps it even if the default channel distribution in the plugin is different)
- mixbus all 12 solo/mute work fine
- VCA solo/mute work fine (if only track or only buses are assigned)
- install keeps well all the previous settings (keybinding, color, presets...)
- draging plugs keeping mono in the mid regardless whether from mono or stereo
- the Phaser pluginSmile
and more...

5.3 is a great upgrade since all the most common features have been fixed and 32C works stable on Win7/64.

Thanks lot to all of you

Thanks for the update and the Stunning Phaser plugin!

Looking forward to the XT-MF Metal Flanger plugin. Wink

MacOS 64bit doesn't work on 10.10 Yosemite even though the email from Harrison Console includes Yosemite and says 10.10 or newer. The message I get is that it requires 10.11 or later.

The installer should ask if you want to uninstall the older version. You can have multiple versions installed side-by-side and select which one to use. I usually keep the previous version until confirming the new one works fine.

Update installed in AVLinux yesterday. Loaded several old sessions and created some new ones to mix down live recordings. All tickety-boo so far! WinkCool
