I'm on 9.2.172. Flat buttons is definitely smoother.

Thank you for the post, but your videos are .gifs, no sound. I can't tell anything from watching these... Am I missing something?

What helped me most was to set the buffersize to maximum. Still not as fluent as it was with earlier versions though.
