Just stick it in the middle of the set over the center, add a mic for the bass drum and I get a sound that I find as good as the original Dave Brucbeck's "Take five" in the 60's (This is a reference for drums miking!)

I first listened to "Take Five" in 1960, I was 7 years old, it blew me away, I did not know why but I could not listen hard enough or often enough. Paul Desmond said of Take Five "It was never supposed to be a hit. It was supposed to be a Joe Morello drum solo."
One of the best, if not the best drum recording ever made. For any doubters, listen to the recording with the best pair of headphones that you have. So, that is a very large recommendation for the Rode NT-FS1.
