XT-BC plugin
#1
Just got the email about the new XT-BC plugin:

Question: could you achieve the same effect using the other XT equalizer plugins? Or any EQ plugin, for that matter?

How does this plugin differ from, say, using the stock EQ already in the Mixbus channel strip?

Hi Faiz,

We contrast the new XT-BC with regular EQ in the video.

When you play a "Low E" on the bass guitar, the fundamental is at 41hz. Playing an octave up, the fundamental is at 82hz.

With a traditional EQ, you have to choose whether to EQ at 41hz or 82 hz, and it will have a different effect on the harmonic structure of the bass, depending on which note is being played.

The XT-BC actually tracks the note that is being played, and changes the eq frequencies to match the harmonics of that note.

It's a subtle difference, and perhaps only useful in certain situations where you need to fundamentally repair the sound that you've recorded. It's based on a technology called "frequency agile filtering" derived from radar & radio. We look forward to seeing how our users apply it.

I would be very interested to see how that could be employed in enhancing LFE for Music and FX in Cinema.

I demoed, with the sliders, and sounds great, and most of all easy and quick to active a great sounding bass, I imagine using it with synth bass sound design as Im hearing in the video its a great tool for that. Kudos absolutely!

Yeah I finally got to listen to the demo. Way more intuitive than surfer EQ. I will be picking this one up. Smile

I tried Surfer EQ but was a pain in the ass to use, and set it up to sing on the bass for ecample.
