Understandable but it's your only option without sending to two mono busses and using their panners, or to a mixbus and using its width control.
Neither were good solutions for me. And all of the plugins I could find handled this by way of two panners: a left and a right. What I really wanted was one that instead gave me a width control and a pan control.
