Ardroid and Mixbus
#1
Hey,

I just found this interesting howto about how to use and Android app "Ardroid" to remote control Ardour.

Do you know if it would work with Mixbus ?

Ardroid was developed for Ardour v3, which has a lot more controls available.

But a quick comparison of the code for Mixbus and A3 says that yes, transport controls and the basic track features ( record, mute, solo ) in Ardroid should work.

Although I have several Android devices, I must admit I haven't tried it yet. Please tell us if you have any success!

There is a second question about that: how to optimize the workstation so that network is not a performance problem when recording. (On Linux, I mean)

The performance should not be any problem at all on the workstation side, unless you have a very bad USB network card or a problem; it's more likely that the phone will be the bottle neck. Neither MIDI or OSC should be able to generate so much data that they strangles you network.
Mixbus/Mixbus32C on Linux (Kubuntu)/KXStudio repositories.
GUI: KDE and Fluxbox

Ok, thanks for your answer. It's just that when wifi is activated, I have more xrun. I maybe should try with ethernet.

That could be due to your motherboard's bus & interrupt structure (for example your soundcard & wifi might be sharing an interrupt), or it might be a problem in your OS. Wifi and sound "shouldn't" interrupt each other.
