Guide for optimising Windows 10
#1
I came across this excellent guide for optimising Win10 for DAW use from the company who makes Pyramix and other audio software - https://confluence.merging.com/pages/vie...d=17203497
There are a lot of configuration options, many of which can make your Win10 trip smoother or fix showstopper issues.
I use Linux for Mixbus, but have Win10 set up on the same computer for one particular use where I have to use a Digico UB MADI USB interface for recording. My Win10 is tweaked by activating virtually all the options in the program Win10Privacy which shuts off a lot of those sneaky background programs and stops telemetry and call-home features. https://www.w10privacy.de/english-home/ - highly recommended! There are a ridiculously massive amount of unnecessary background processes in Win10, many of which can compromise audio performance.
Mixbus 32C, Debian Bookworm/KDE, EVE SC205 + ADAM Sub 8 monitors, Soundcraft Compact 4, M-Audio 2496, i5 6500, 16GB RAM, WD Blue SSD 1TB, 48" LG OLED, other stuff.
Work as house engineer at a popular venue in Melbourne AU. On a quest for the holy grail, the perfect amount of cowbell.

Sunrat, Thanks for the info! This seems to be a very complete layout of how to configure Windows 10 for a DAW. I will re-optimize so I can assure myself an optimal setup. Thanks Again.

I just ran across another guide to optimising Win10 from Focusrite. Not quite as comprehensive as the above linked one but covers the main points which need to be addressed:
https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/a...Windows-10

I would still recommend running Win10Privacy as well.
