plugin tags

Is that possible to erase tags from the plugin tags menu? I just organized my plugins with new tags and the tags not being used still show with a blank box next to the tag. That makes things a bit confusing showing a bunch of tags not being used along with the new tags. Am i doing something wrong or there is another way?
