Missing in v6.1: Middle click to move region precisely
#1
A handy feature I use a lot is the ability to click a region with the middle mouse button in order to move it to another track without risking to move it time-wise.
It'll move only up or down, not to the right or left. Neat!

However in version 6.1 this feature seems to be gone.
Is there something I can enable to get it back, or should I simply hope to get it back in a future version?

Works fine here, but function depends on selected edit mode:

When in "Slide" edit mode middle mouse temporary switches to "lock" edit mode (which obviously is what you're looking for), but when in "Lock" edit mode it temporary switches to "slide" - so basically a temporary toggle between those two modes.

So I guess you're currently in "Lock" mode?

I'm glad it works for you, then I probably just have to try fiddling around a bit more.
Happy it's not gone in v6.1, just for me after updating.
Unfortunately I was (and am) in Slide mode, and it makes no difference for me which mode I try or whatever I'm doing.
But as said, I'll try and see if I can figure it out.
Thanks for helping!

That function is working correctly for me on macOS with 32C v6.1.22. What OS and version are you running ?

Oh, yes. I'm on Linux.
And I have recently updated my OS, which is a bit frustrating as it COULD also be related to this. Undecided

It might be related not per se in the OS update but in which "improvements in the DE" that update integrated.
Check at least if you can reproduce or not the problem when using another Desktop Environment, probabably a more frugal one, and if so either go and use that DE, or try to tune up/repair the b0rken "new improved DE settings" Wink

Sorry for dragging on about this issue, but as I cannot seem to solve it, I wonder:

Is there any way to achieve the same result without the middle button?
If I had a mouse which didn't have 3 buttons, would there be a different way of moving precisely between tracks (like ctrl+mouse click (which it isn't, but you get the point))?

This whole issue is just such a mystery for me. Confused

Do you have any other way of proving that the middle mouse button is actually working.. I mean could the hardware switch have failed ?

Well, my middle button works for everything else. I have not come across any other situation where it doesn't work.
But now that it doesn't work for this task in Mixbus 32C, I wonder if there's any other way to perform it. It's really handy, so I'd gladly do it even if it is by clicking a button or something else when moving a region.
I'm really just curious if I can achieve the precise move in some other way.

@krans, if that is the case I would suggest you email support: mixbus@harrisonconsoles.com
