Sidechain
#1
Can't get sidechain to hook up to individual channels. Am I doing something wrong?

go to the plugin you want to use as a sidechain, in the pin options assign the track you want as a sidechain source. I noticed in v6 the sidechain thread is automatically on for me so i just look at the pull down menu in plugin pin section and choose my SIDE track or you can even route a midi pulse which is kinda dope too. They have an external audio sidechain track too but this is different. If you wanna sidechain in the box just use the plugin pin section. All the send faders appear after you do it from the pin and then you can balance it later if needed, actually they have send faders in every spot you could imagine. its really good.

not at all man, when I first got this I was super impressed that they had the built in side path and then it went in V6 and I used the current way which seemed to not work before in V5 because of plugin latency or whatever.

I kinda stumbled upon the right way to do it now, it's handy because depending on where you're navigating you can tweak the level of the sidechain.

FYI: Sidechain function still not usable with many plugins (I am on win10/mixbus 32c v6) because there is no sidechain-INPUT shown for the plugin. so there is no way of connectig the sidechain source to the target plugin. works e.g. with a-compressor but not so with brainworx ssl-series and many other third party plugins.

So, in pin management in the upper right corner you don't have a button named "sidechain"? Can you send a screenshot?

Plugins that have their own sidechain function (SC input) are only a few on earth like Fabfilter sidechain compressor, the Glue, some free stuff like the Nova.
The sidechaining MMM is talking about (top right corner) works for these plugs that have this sidechain extra pins.
You can notice them only in the stereo version of a plug: there are two extra not connected to anywhere input pins. To these you can render any track to trigger its sidechain function.
In picture my all band is triggered some db cut sidechained by the vox

Hey Tassy,
OK, thanx, got it. Tried sidechaining Presswerk, Lindel 254E on bass-mixbus (triggered by the kick) with success. I did not yet figure out how to make it work with brainworx ssl-plugins ... we'll see ... I'll give it another try (bx Townhouse plugin crashed my system ... did not seem to work)
Also many thanx to MMM ...
Best
