Subwoofer placement when mixing

Where is the best place to put a subwoofer in a Mixing setup, does it have to always be on the floor etc

Ideally rubber isopads on the floor, displaced from on axis centre - one third/two thirds across.

Right it’s good to put speakers on pads, I guess it’s the same with subs

If your really Keen about placement the sound of your sub, try downloading REW with a measurement mic.

Analyzing the phase trace with tops and sub will tell you how well they play together.

Frequency response of the sub might tell you how your room interacts. This can really help to understand what's going on in your room
