Scripting midi edits
#1
Question
Is it possible to have Lua carry out actions on all currently selected midi notes?

I'm thinking something like 'increase all selected note velocities by 10' or 'randomise all selected note velocities by 20%'

I have no experience with Lua, but used to working with other coding and adapting example scripts. If someone could get me started on this, I would be very grateful.

Cheers!

Yes, but it's probably easier to just use Mixbus' built-in feature for that: With the "internal edit" tool (press 'e') select a few notes, then right-click Context-menu > Transform http://manual.ardour.org/working-with-mi...tion-midi/ describes the edit process.

The alternative is to use a midi-filter plugin and apply the change "live": http://www.harrisonconsoles.com/mixbus/m...di-filters (the main difference is that randomization would be different every time).

To simply increase/decrease velocity, putting the instrument post-fader can do as well. The fader will then change MIDI velocity. YMMV

Wow - thanks for the great suggestions...
I am new to MixBus, so still finding my way around all the various options...
I will certainly look at those in more detail - thanks again

Much appreciated
