Mixbus 32C: Faderport does not work
#1
UPDATE There must have been an error in sequence with the a2j_control app. If it is launched before Mixbus, then everything's fine as far as being able to make the Faderport connections within Mixbus 32C 3.6.0.

Was:

Brand new Faderport. Plugged in the DC voltage, plugged in the USB. The 'Write' button becomes red. Linux Mint 64 bit, Mixbus 32C 3.6.0.

dmesg shows, USB 3:

[ 696.154798] usb 3-3: new full-speed USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd
[ 696.168522] usb 3-3: New USB device found, idVendor=194f, idProduct=0201
[ 696.168524] usb 3-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
[ 696.168525] usb 3-3: Product: FaderPort
[ 696.168526] usb 3-3: Manufacturer: PreSonus

In Mixbus, enabled 'Presonus Faderport' for both 'Enabled' and 'Feedback'. Then double-clicked and went on specifying 'Incoming MIDI on' and 'Outgoing MIDI on' but there's no other choice than 'Disconnected'.

Launched 'a2j_control ehw start' since Mixbus/Ardour needs that to see MIDI devices. Still no other option that 'Disconnected'. Started qjackctl, saw the Faderport, made the two conen octt isnoMixbus 32C.

Now works. I'll have to save those connections in qjackctl config to prevent doing them every time.

Just to let you know. I would have thought, as per using MIDI synths, that the conenctions would be self-contained in Mixbus, not having to them using another application.

Cheers.

You could use NON-SESSION from KXStudio to save your connections. Then each time you start QjackCtl, start Mixbus from NON-SESSION, it auto-loads and connects everything, and you're off and running.
