Wav Files
#1
I am still getting my head around MB. I don't use it as much because I need my MIDI drums. However, I like the sound of mixes in this program so I want to get good with it. One thing I have noticed while editing or reviewing wav files is that on playback it seems the playback head does not scroll at the exact portion of the wav that the sound is actually at. Has anyone had this issue and, if so, how can it be resolved?

Hi Jed,

What OS are you using? Are you using the "stationary playhead" mode in Windows?

Mixbus should take plugin latency into account when it shows the playhead location. But there are situations where additional delays would cause you to hear sound after Mixbus shows it on-screen.

It's also possible that your system is unable to draw fast enough to keep up with the audio.

Ben,

I've also noticed when I have plugins inserted and first start a song, all the lanes are way out of sync. Then I restart and they sync up. But the latency on the time line is the big kicker because it affects my gain adjustments and I'd rather do those with the processing already on the channel.

Oh and one thing, when you near to finish a mix, so much plugins are set and running, the zoom and standard navigating controls (with mouse) not working until you stop the playhead, I think its more of a CPU load issue. 10.7.4 3.1 GHz 8core MacPro Hackintosh.

The reason I bring it up is because this is the only program it occurs in. So I know my CPU is quite capable of handling it. And this session is only 16 tracks. I think there may be a bug in how the program is adjusting latencies. Just my guess. If it happened in any other program, I wouldn't be commenting. This is the only one. But it sure would help for the play head to show graphically the exact portion of audio I'm hearing as it scrolls. It's not a huge amount off, but it's definitely off.

Thanks,

Jed

Hi Jedanor,

Do you experience the same problem without any plugins in the session?

Will try that...I'm sure it probably will.
