Dither not available 24b44k
#1
I can't select a dither option or save it as a preset for exporting a 24b 44k wav.

Anyone else or am I missing a step / something I'm not following ? thanks

Explicit 24bit dithering is not supported by Mixbus.

Curious: 24bit has a range of 144dB, why would you want to dither that? A few dB more S/N won't make any real difference there.

Quote:[Even] At 16 bits it's mostly a wash. It's reasonable to treat dither as an insurance policy that gives several extra decibels of dynamic range just in case. That said no one ever ruined a great recording by not dithering the final master.
from https://xiph.org/video/vid2.shtml (jump to chapter about dithering at around 11min which is a very good overview, but the whole video is worthwhile)

As for Mixbus: Technically Mixbus is using 32bit floating point to represent audio-samples. float has 24 bit mantissa, so dithering won't do anything. Export could use double precision math, but that's also moot because Mixbus' EQ and tape-saturation do add low-level dither-like noise well above that level.
