Best thing for Ducking in Mixbus?
#1
Hey there, I have a snare channel with too much crosstalk of toms in order to use a noise gate properly.
What is the best way to do multichannel ducking in Mixbus?

I do have Drum Flow, am I missing something?

Drum Flow should enable you to at least trigger a bit of white noise into the snare which might give you more apparent separation.
Try expanding the toms down rather than gating them out.... also have you tried a phase flip on the Toms to see if that helps ?
As to ducking my go to is the AVA - Multiband Compressor

Try XT-TG on the snare.

Maybe I have to be more precise with my request:
I need a noise gate that can be triggered by a side chain signal in order to close. I don't look for anything else.

No option, mainly because of overheads but also because I have used top and bottom mics for the toms- they are very exposed (and therefore hit a lot harder) on the tracks I work on.
Not a standard setup because there is no kick drum, that's why the toms are so close to the snare.

I should have taken the SSL when it was on sale, this would be it but I don't want to spend 130$ on it.

So, back to Logic and using the onboard gate- this will do the job.
