New Mixbuss 7 install won't record audio

Mac OS Catalina
Won't record. Using a blue usb mic. system error "core audio blackend". MixBuss is on default settings on brand new loaded mixbuss7.

the Blue mic works in other software

mixbuss 7 will play/mix loaded audio stems. But no recording from the blue mic. 

been trying for 2 days. 30-year pro.  I hope it's just something simple. Help.
