How can I set the input channel for AVL-plugin?  It it listens to all channels by default.  Is there a way to configure that?

When you create a MIDI Track in the Instrument Selector choose the Multi (9 outs) version of the Black Pearl or Red Zeppelin Drum kits.
This will create a MIDI Track with Master turned off and 9 audio tracks that will be automatically be routed from the Instrument.
