Mixbus on a touchscreen
#1
Hello Community,

I've owned a Slate Raven in the past (now sold), and more recently I've used Mixbus together with a tablet running TouchOSC, well now I have a multi-touch monitor (Acer T272HUL, 27", 1440P res) as my main monitor.

It supports TUIO, so I'm looking for anyone who has used or programmed a Mac TUIO client that can overlay an arrangement of touch regions (mapped to OSC messages) just like with TouchOSC, but on the main monitor, to talk directly to Mixbus.

Is anyone else interested in this?
Does anybody know of this in the Ardour community?

...any reply appreciated...

...so the idea is to re-create the good parts of the Slate Raven (immediacy, multi-touch, focus on 1 screen) for Mixbus...

My experience....... not trying to 'nay say'
Went down this road with a dell touch screen monitor. No native multi touch in mac. When using multiple monitors, mouse would select on other screens when pressing on touch screen - like the touch overlay was on all screens. ended up going back to using a control surface, just way faster and easier - especially on large projects. The fact that you cant rest any body part on the screen created alot of fatigue. Very difficult to hit small objects with my finger. And the 'oh great my forearm touched the screen, what did it do..." Also I found that I could only really do one thing at a time. And editing was just not possible.
The ability to rest my fingers on the solo buttons and others on faders, then jump over to the jog wheel..... hands down for me the control surface is way more efficient.

So I'm in the process of making a "ShaleCrow" (i.e., not a slate raven) for MB; I've posted a few screen shots and a short video elsewhere...
