Full Version: How to split channels into their own tracks in mixbus 8?

I have a plugin that has its own tracks, each of which it sends on a different channel. I need to know how to output each channel into a separate bus.

I have searched and searched but can only find info for older versions of mixbus which don't seem to work in version 8.
Hi plastick welcome to the Mixbus Forum...
Not sure if I am reading your question correctly but.... the best way to get a stereo track as two mono is to set the mapping when you import to:
One Track Per Channel: Each channel of each file will appear as a track. If a file is stereo, it will be converted to 2 mono tracks.
An 8-channel wav file will be converted to 8 mono tracks.

I'm not importing a midi, I am using a plugin that has its own tracks. Each track in the plugin is output in a midi channel (i.e. track 1 is midi channel 1, track 2 is midi channel 2, etc). I need these channels split so each goes to a different bus track.

 Thanks for the reply though.
@plastick OK thanks for the clarification.
Still not 100% on board but here are a few things that might help you.
You can route MIDI data from one channel to another using Window / MIDI Connections - this will pass all the MIDI data to an instrument or plugin on other channels.

Mixbus has a number of MIDI ultilites that come free and these are added to channels in the same way a plugin does...

Two of those plugins include MIDI channel Filter and MIDI Channel Map either of these might help you assign the various MIDI channels as you need.

Thanks for that. I tried the utilities and I think the problem is its only actually reading midi channel 1 of my plugin (even though the plugin itself says its using midi channels 1-5). Mixbus doesn't seem to want to acknowledge channels 2 to 16.

Its weird because I can go to MIDI "channel selector" on the instrument and set "record only to selected channels" to 1 and it plays only channel 1 but not 2+... But if I "force all to channels to 1 channel" to channel 1 it plays them all just fine. What I want is to be able to set each instrument to the proper channel but doesn't seem to be working. It seems like the plugin is able to send all channels it is playing but for some reason mixbus won't "record only to selected channels" other than channel 1.

I guess maybe I will have to use another DAW.
What plugin are you trying to get to work ?

Instacomposer
Is this on Windows?
Is it the same kind of issue that Mixbus using (windows?) VST3 can' t fan out multi outputs like Mac AU can?

Yeah it's the same issue, from what I am reading in my google searches.

Stupid me.... These are kontakt instruments and I thought they were missing channel selection... all I had to do was hit the info button. Thanks for your help!
