drum plugin
#1
Maybe this not the place to ask this. If so I appoligise in advance.

So here goes; does any of the people here are aware of a drum plugin that has some interlligence like SuperiorDrummer or the drum plugins that are available in Garage Band or Logic Pro that run natively under linux? Either free or paying?

Regards,
Erwin

I think this question has been asked many times in linuxmusicians forum, and no real answers seen.

For those that have the same question, I found MT Power Drumkit ([https://www.powerdrumkit.com/]). While it is not a native linux vst, They do provide a version that is compiled specially to work well with wine. It is free and the only thing that they request is to leave an email address so that they can monitor what the interest in a Linux version is.

For the wine part they kind of recommend LinVst and that works fine.

...and once you created your groove you can export the MIDI and import it to Mixbus and use DrmR.lv2
https://github.com/nicklan/drmr
which plays the exactly same kit (or any kit) from Hydrogen and lets you change volume, pan and mute, even the whole kit, on the fly.

Hard to know what you mean by intelligence, do you think about something like a sequencer or drum machine triggering sounds in a way or another?

Syncing the Hydrogen drum machine and letting it trigger sounds is what I do. I normally use SD2 (via wine) as a player and just record the outputs of it, but do also use Linuxsampler with kits from Natural Drums. I only use Hydrogen for sketches, using Ardour 6 for MIDI stuff.

The Hydrogen drum machine has mute groups, so you can handle things like HH-openness, making things sound more natural.

You can for the same reason use DrumGizmo if HH-openness is required. No other players except for Linuxsampler (with Gig files) has those capabilities in Linux as far as I know.

And yes, this question does probably not belong here! :-)

For me drag & drop from that plugin to mixbus does not work. And I think it is general problem, dnd from windows plugins just doesn't work. Same thing is for example Pluginboutique Scaler 2.

No.

Otherwise MDrummer by Melda.

With wine-staging and linvst. And with accepting one quirk about the mixer display.

$381, demo available.

Designed and coded by a drummer, Vojtech Melda Meluzin:

For me, it's a drum machine that has a real drummer inside, wanting to get out. This said, I do not know Superior Drummer or any of the others, but I know it when I recognize very flexible and creative software.

Disclaimer: not having anything to do with Melda Productions, apart from being a satisfied Linux user.

Linux is not officially supported by Melda.

The drag and drop does not work directly but it does indirectly. When you drag the created pattern into mixbus the plugin creates a midi file called mtpdk.mid in the users Documents folder in his home directory, usually /home/USERNAME/Documents.
You can then take this file and drag it in mixbus on the right track.

Not to dis this program, I do not know it and have not worked with it but $381 seems a bit steep. There are programs like EZdrummer that costs around 120 € and serious drummer costs 299€.
