IR convolution reverb on Linux mixes
#1
I know Linux doesn’t have much native options when it comes to various great sounding reverbs, has anyone tried any IR convolution type reverbs, I know a few places where I can download IR samples but not sure if many just use plugins instead,

Well, wine (staging) and linvst are part of Linux, so ....

There's Melda Production's MConvolutionEZ which is part of the Melda free bundle:

There are some native Linux plugins, Klangfalter and IR are my favorites. I've also used Klangfalter as a cab simulator with good results, the other ones probably work good as well. Some links:

Mixbus/Mixbus32C on Linux (Kubuntu)/KXStudio repositories.
GUI: KDE and Fluxbox

Thanks I’ll look into them, as I came across them already. Are these types of reverbs cpu heavy or it depends on file ?

Much depends on the length of the original sample, also the GUI can add a lot.
I can run 40 instances of TL Space in Protools, but struggle with 3 or more Altiverb instances.
I love convolution for Cinema work and encourage recordists to sample the rooms they record in so we can match ADR in post, but only a select few find the time....
