Hello all,
I'm using Mixbus for the first time, but I get no sound, neither from audio or midi tracks, although their meters and also the master meter show signal. Can you help me?
Cheers

What Operating System are you running? What is the name/type of your sound card?

I'm running AV Linux, and the name of my soundcard is M Audiophile 24/96. Apart from Mixbus there is sound okay.

Are you starting-up an instance of JACK (on the right side of the left group on the strip)? Once you get JACK running, you may want to run your M Audiophile mixer (Soundcard Utilities).

Oh yes, I forgot to start JACK first. Now I've closed Mixbus, started Qjackctl, and then restarted Mixbus, but still there's no sound. In the M Audiophile mixer I had already turned up the "Analog volume" sliders. I get sound okay with the DAW Ardour.

Besides re-booting, maybe toggle the Outs (change Out1: Out1/Out2 to Out1: Out3/Out4 then back to Out1: Out1/Out2) if possible. Good luck.

In qjackctl - check if the Mixbus Master out is connected to your system. Or in Mixbus click on the bottom of the master section to see what it is connected to. Third possibility: do you use the monitor section? In this case the connection has to be master -> monitor -> out 1+2.

They autmagically show all connections made between all devices :
I had yesterday something similar
No sound on a hp laptop running ubuntu studio
looks for hours : turned out the laptop has a multimedia keyboard with a mute kay, one cannot see the status in software

Here are some pics from qjackctl:

and from the outputs:

By monitor section you mean the top of the strips? Here at the top of the master strip I can toggle between "EQ, comp, fader" and "VCA, Out, Comments". At "Out" it says "1/2", and I can choose between "Disconnect", "Out: 1+2" and "Routing Grid".

I quit Mixbus and Qjackctl, then re-started Mixbus after starting Carla, but I see no connections in Carla, and then suddenly the Carla window disappears. I started it again but soon after it disappeared again. I don't have Patchage or Catia, but will they be much different from Qjackctl and Carla?

About your laptop, I would have slammed that bloody mute key with a hammer lol

Would have been great if you had expanded the connections on the right hand side, too, that's the interesting part.

Seems to be what I thought: you have only 2 outputs while you are talking about 3+4 as well... so I assume you have the onboard sound here and you should be able to hear something when you connect your monitors to the onboard sound.

Forget Carla for now, like all women she's way too complex for a beginner to get his head around. Hang out with Jack's qjackctl
Stop Jack --> go to Setup --> Advanced --> Output device / Input device (on the right hand side) --> choose your correct card, start Jack and you should be done. Jack will remember these settings for the next sessions.
Cheers,
