Practical, Simple Changes (we would like:)

This is so true.....
I have started mixing without any external plugins.....I only reach for a plugin if I need and effect, like doubling or Delay or distortion......

I have the CLA comps from Waves.....I tried and took one off last night on bass.....the built in Harrison comp was fine.....more than fine actually

I find the EQ's seem to get me where I want pretty quickly too......especially if I use the different layers. One on the track, then the bus, then the master (watch the youtube vid.....very informative)

It's actually a load off to just use what's right there on the screen.

Now, I do use a lot of plugins in Logic where I write and record. Then I export the tracks, some with effects, some not, into Mixbus.....that way I am starting in the ballpark......

Another concwnient change would ve, displaying the gain/automation value, when you ceeate the aztomation range edit, or adding exiszing points. Ur displays the value when your modify existing points or lines (only when the line selected)

UAD users like me, love the freeze ir bounce in place feature, whrn you run out of DSP it happened some times I have miderate DSP for the new UAD plugs availabke only use them when the sound is needed and I cannot achive it with the biilt in provessing. My main reason to switch to Mixbus to use less UAD plugs and external plugs, but you csnnot spare a deesser or special distortion. The XTMultiband as a deesser is a bit mozch CPU hungry I suppose.

Mentioned some answers, there is an "active" box in every track rightclick to tick or untick. Simple and already there to inactivate any track with all its plugs and settings.
Make a project of 20 tracks, load it with crazy plugs and settings (quite indifferent how it sounds) hit play and lok at the CPU meter 10-15 tracks active and inactive by the tick.

You see yourselves what it does. The diference is the enough for you or not?

Hi Björn
To tell the truth it took me a year to find itSmile Just now when the guys were mentioning freeze I began to keep searching for some built-in solution.
Happy if it helped.

To me Mixbus should not try to be like other DAW's..... there's plenty of those.....Of course it should have the basics, but Mixbus is unique, there is nothing like it.....keep going down that path......

I say instead of suggesting things that other DAW's have, suggest things they don't.....like high quality EQ, Compression, and trim pots all in plain sign on every track.....oh wait, Mixbus has that Smile How about built in tape compression (the plugin that EVERYONE is making now).....oh, Mixbus has that too Smile Smile

All that said, I wish I had some unique suggestions, but I am just not that experienced.

About the only thing I struggle with is the zooming.....but I have already mentioned that.....

Yep, this is annoying, especially if you do a lot of editing with the gain edit.

What about a possibility to do prefader sends to the Mixbuses? (Perhaps with a right click on the send button)

Don't know if this would come with any drawback but I think it could be beneficial for parallel processing, so one could automate faders and apply parallel procesing to a group of tracks via sends, with the possibility of affecting their relative levels, and saving buses (using individual tracks master bus sends) for other things (for example, just a parallel drums bus instead of drums and a parallel drums bus).
I think this would be cool for some uses of compression but also reverb and delay sends.

Hope I could explain myself well.

Drag & Drop to re-order tracks would be nice, along with adding "move track up/down" to the Track R-click menu.

Also if the 8 mixbuses cannot be moved around (Could they?), Being able to copy ALL the settings (FX & EQ) from one Mixbus to another would achieve the same result.

Being able to READ the location markers (Intro - Verse - Chorus - Solo) is essential when doing automation, placing short segments, etc.
That's why I suggested User selectable fonts (including Bold Italic) Colors are important for grouping similar parts.

Opening a session or a snapshot by default in a "zoom to session"-view and place
the playhead at start.

Great simple idea. But I would not like the software to mass up or dig into what was saved.
What if just saved as suggested?Smile

But the templates open just in edit view, would like to get the mixer window active, too, without mousing in the menus to select toogling between.... And could simply use Alt+M as generally.

I always forget to ask:

When dragging a wave into session in edit view I would like to drag and release it in the track box anywhere (the box where the M,S, a, g, etc are) and it would be loaded then at the start of the session as default.
Thanks
Tassy
