Mixbus v3.7 - FREE update for Mixbus and Mixbus32C
#1
Mixbus and Mixbus32C users may download a FREE v3.7 update!

All users ( paid customers and demo users ) should have already received an email with the 3.7 links; if not, please write our support email at: mixbus@harrisonconsoles.com

Mixbus v3.7 includes many user-requested improvements and fixes, as well as 2 new plugins:

XT-SC Spectral Compressor:
• The XT-SC is a powerful and easy-to-use multiband compressor which uses advanced DSP derived from our large-format MPC5 film console.
• Watch a video demonstrating the XT-SC features and sound: https://youtu.be/1z66QNt91vQ
• Users may purchase a license for the XT-SC at our online store for $159
• Plugged-In Members (who were subscribed on or before Nov3) received the XT-SC free.

Micro-Glide:
• Micro-Glide is an easy-to-use effect that adds width and depth to your vocals and instruments.
• Watch a video of Micro-Glide in action: https://youtu.be/E8y0E929uOw
• Micro-Glide is included in the Essentials Bundle. If you already own the Essentials Bundle for Mixbus, then this plugin will immediately be available in v3.7.

Improvements:
• Fix time-alignment of master bus on export: Exporting the master bus, and re-importing it, will result in correct alignment, even with complicated combinations of plugins on the mixbuses and master bus, and including the master bus limiter "lookahead".
NOTE: due to technical limitations, it is now only possible to export Tracks, not buses, in the Stem Export dialog. If you want to export the mixbuses as individual files, please solo each mixbus and use “Session->Export to Audio File” to generate time-aligned mixbus outputs through the master bus. This guarantees that all resulting track, mixbus and master output files will align with each other.
• New option for Region->Normalize : user may optionally normalize the region to an RMS level, instead of peak.
• Add colored-faders option: fader caps will be colored to match the track/group color. To enable this, visit Preferences->Theme.
• Improved various aspects of the Insert/Remove Time dialog to make it easier to operate.
• Safe Mode ( ignores plugins and playhead zoom+location when opening a session ) : Hold ctrl + click "open" in the Session startup dialog.
• The instruments listed in the “New Track/Bus” dialog are now sorted alphabetically.
• Allow feedback loops from a "Send" on a mixbus, back to a track input. This will result in a one-buffersize delay on the audio path. To enable this, right-click on a Send, and choose “allow feedback”.
• Correctly show the number of channels/tracks for both type-0 and type-1 MIDI files.
• When importing a type-0 SMF MIDI file, split channels into separate tracks.
• Added MIDI map file for Akai MIDIMix device.
• Basic support for Avid Artist Mix & Avid Artist Edit control surfaces as MCU devices. Faders, pan, mute, solo, rec-arm and selection are working. These devices only support a limited set of the MCU features.
• Default Auto-Input to "Off", to avoid new user reports of immediate noise or feedback after importing or creating tracks.
• Add a button to interactively check for New/Updated Harrison LV2 plugins, and automatically download/install them.
• If a session is loaded, the Samplerate pulldown is now inactive, to avoid confusion when users changed this setting and it had no effect.
• Sample-rate display always shows active (not desired) rate.
• "Download & Install License" feature: an alternative way to install the license file, for new users who have trouble finding their HOME folder.
• Remember the status of analyze and soundcloud upload checkboxes in ExportDialog, so you don't have to reset them every time you export.
• Improved the speed of XML session file read/write.
• Improved the speed of Region Export.
• Wrap LTC output if the playhead exceeds 24 hours.

Fixes:
• "Blink-rec-arms" option wouldn't take effect until Mixbus was restarted. This has been fixed.
• Allow a LV2 plugin to mark the session modified/dirty. ( fixes a problem with SetBfree saving its settings if you don't explicitly save the session )
• Using arrow-keys on selected mixer strips would recursively affect grouped faders: in a group of 4 faders, a single click would be applied 4 times. This has been fixed.
• Don't include session-search paths with templates.
• Disallow pin-management for MB channelstrip plugins. ( it's not needed anyway )
• Moving start/end markers marks the session as modified/dirty.
• MIDI CC automation events (when imported from a MIDI file) should not extend a line backwards to the start of the session.
• ...and hundreds of smaller tweaks and bug-fixes.

Windows Fixes:
• Properly recognize VSTi synths using VST’s metadata. In the past we detected MIDI input and audio output, and assumed it was an instrument. This caused some plugins to be instantiated with stereo output when added to a mono channel.
• VST threading: prevent concurrent effSetChunk and process() - This is a potential fix for unreliable preset load/restore.
• Allow opening sessions with files embedded from removable drives, even when the disk isn't attached. Previously, Windows would prompt you to "insert disk" and wouldn’t continue until a disk was mounted on the path.
• Convert VST parameter names to UTF8, this time for Windows. This is needed for plugins that use non-ASCII characters in parameter names, such as AirWindows "µ-iness".
• You can now have Sessions with localized names containing characters that aren't in the system codepage on Windows. It also fixes the issue where a Session would not open when it was moved into a path with characters that aren't in the system codepage.
• Fix a bug when formatting time strings in the Recent Sessions window.
• Fix a crash when toggling back and forth between a generic plugin GUI window and a VST plugin's own GUI.

Mac Fixes:
• Fix AU song-position and tempo, which was broken in v3.6.
• Text cut/copy/paste now correctly uses Cmd+x/c/v on mac, instead of Ctrl.
• Previous versions would only utilize physical processors (ignoring hyperthreading processors) This has been fixed to match operation on linux and windows.
• Fix Coreaudio Aggregate for separate devices with identical names.

Thank you very much for your continuing support! v3.7 is packed with features and fixes that our users requested. We can't do it without you!

Best Regards,
-Ben at Harrison

does this mean I should turn hyper-threading back on? (Gentoo Linux)
Very excited as I have a hexacore i7 (4930k) with hyper-threading and would like to avoid upgrading for as long as possible.
