Apple ARM / Intel compatibility
#1
As of 2020 Apple have started releasing new Hardware that utilises a new chip architecture called Apple Silicon, also known as ARM or M1 M2 etc this new and faster chip replaces the traditional Intel chip.

ARM machines can use Intel based software and plugins using an inbuilt translator called Rosetta.

You need to determine what generation of Mac hardware you are running, ARM (Apple Silicon M1, M2 etc) or the older Intel variety.

From the menu bar Apple / About this Mac.

Mixbus and Mixbus 32C are capable of running on Intel and ARM.

There are two builds of Mixbus for macOS:

ARM which I has the suffix -arm64.dmg OR Intel/Rosetta which has the suffix -x86_64.dmg.

Not all third party plugins are ARM compatible, or if they are you might need to update your software.

Apple AU format plugins are automatically wrapped to be able to run on ARM natively.

If you want you can run Intel programs and plugins on ARM using Rosetta, there will be a link to the x86 installer in the email Harrison sent to you after purchase or Demo download.

With a new install you need to run a full plugin scan from the Preferences section were you can also elect to hide VST2 versions if a VST3 is found.

After the initial scan, use plugin manager to quickly scan for newly added plugins.
