Rebooted and opened session again, still CMD+Up/Dn arrow no track movement. Moved around the Edit canvas, attentioned a few regions, changed tools then selected headers and bingo it now works - must have been in deep sleep and needed gentle awakening

This only works in "grab" mode - at least for me in Linux. Could that be the problem?

Yes.. indeed  that is the answer !
I was testing Quick draw so had the tool in Draw and Edit mode... CMD+Up/Dn only appears to work when the tool is in any mode other than D and E...
Thanks Holger I should have picked that up earlier..

Interesting... AFAIK Mixbus itself doesn't use TextShaping.dll so there's a good chance this might be a plugin issue.

Near to the bottom of the MB opening dialog there's a checkbox saying Safe Mode: Disable all Plugins. Can you try loading your session with that box ticked and let us know if you still get the Stack Overflow message?

seems to go in this direcctions - safe moden 9.2. runs - new project restarted with plugins - new plugin scan - ok runs - but the softube console 1 neither vst2 or 3  works... crashes - some plugin are ok - some are not - even console 1 cant be selected as controller (says disconnected) even the OSD runs - I guess there is something wrong....

I will stay on 9.0 - cant get it running stable , no chance - today reinstalled completly - deleted cache/preferences - but it didnt show waveforms on Recording in the Editor (even a level was there) but seems not recording .... (after a control it had done some recording)- but there is no way of working this way - and I dont have time to get this done... even support was not that helpful sofar. So I will wait til ...?

I have the latest version MB 32C..

On the Edit page, go to the header of the MIDI track in question.
Click the A (for Automation lane) switch and check Velocity from the drop down menu.
You can them click on individual lollipops or use Draw or Internal Edit tools to draw a velocity shape.
