X-Touch looses connection
#1
Hi all,

I am happily using a Behringer X-Touch with firmware 1.22 on Harrison Mixbus 7.2.0. I am running Mac OS X 10.13.6. If I leave the session "alone" for a bit. After an certain amount of time, the X-Touch will not respond anymore and I have to go to Preferences -> Control surfaces -> Mackie. There I will see the Behringer X-Touch selected. "Surface receives via" will link to X-Touch INT. The "Surface sends via" above that will have lost it's connection and be set to "disconnected". I have to manually set it to X-Touch INT again. And this proces will repeat time and time again.

Why? What am I doing wrong? Why would that connection get lost seemingly automatically? I just don't see how not using or touching the controller will have it lose it's connection.

Regards,

Thrl

Google reveals a number of other reports about this from Avid to Reaper...

First thing to check... is X-Touch connected via router ?

If so try a single USB connection... if issue continues try another port or cable.

"First thing to check... is X-Touch connected via router ?"

Nope, found out real quick in the beginning that it needs a dedicated USB port on the host machine. Otherwise it would behave erratically.

Will try other ports and cable now.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Ok, This gets even weirder. I changed USB port and cable. The problem lies somewhere else. I found out that it actually happens when I select a track that a midi instrument is active on. Still not sure why. If I start the X-Touch  and Harrison Mixbus fresh, I can select any audio track I want. As soon as I select a midi track with a midi instrument like Mdrummer  -> POOF! Link disconnected. It must have something to do with midi ports or something. After selecting a midi instrument track and relinking "surface send via" all hell breakes loose. If I then select ANY track on the X-Touch -> all "track select" buttons light up in that faderbank section and I can't choose any other track anymore. Everytime I hit a channel select button -> "surface send via" is unlinked again. Unfortunately I have only 1 camera in my phone, otherwise I would make a split screen video. So I am going to do some more experimenting to see if I can get rid of this phenomenon. Any other suggestions are ofcourse always welcome.

Regards,

Thrl

Ok. Have deleted all the midi instrument tracks. X-Touch behaves completely normal. As soon as I add a midi instrument track -> "Surface sends via" ->disconnected.

I am out of options. Why would this happen?

No one has this problem? And yes, I have read the suggested threads. None of which have anything to do with the problem I encounter.
